"Stand fast intruder, advance no more. Your name, as yet, cannot be found. Within Life's book it must be written if thou wouldest dwell ' pon Holy ground. Who has bid thee tread this stair where purest spirits needs must fly Or wander through this sacred meadow fear thou not that God is nigh?"
"O mighty Cherub, spare thy wrath we mean no disrespect to give behold we tremble at thy presence spare us that we both should live. For here within my breast there beats a love, which draws me to this place, the unrequieted love of God is calling me to seek His face. 'Ere since I read the holy book and saw within the beauteous King my heart has learnt His sacred song and sought His worthy praise to sing."
The Cherub clashed his wings with joy like sounding cymbals or breaking waves. "Glory to God in the highest", they cried "Worthy is the Lamb who saves!"
I know what ya mean.......but I was cheating a little..............as it is not true or real poitillism exactly, where they mix the various colours as they go! My way is to paint the picture as normal, and then add the points or dots afterward with a complimentary colour.....well, it looks similar. Anyway, cheers fer the feed back !

Even if you said you "cheated", I think the "dots" make a wonderful effect! I really like the angel's pose, on the ring of fire - looks so ethereal. Like a vision indeed.
I also like how the river's coming from inside that cavern, and its curves, and how the cavern has those... uhm, flames? I don't know what they are but they look like flames to me.

Dib: Horrible... nightmare... visions! Ms. Bitters: It's called life, Dib. Sit down.
Many, many thanks for you observations.......it is always fascinating when others see something in your art that you do not see , even though you created it!! If I may interpret some of your acute observations........the angelic being is in fact , a cherubim.........artists in the past have always painted these as chubby little babies, but I actually looked them up in the Bible and it turns out that they are the most mystical beings ever conceived. They have four or six wings and actually have four heads (or four faces on one head). Each face looks toward the four points of the compass and the creature does not need to ever turn around! It flies in the direction of the face which has control at that particular time. Interestingly, it also has cloven hooves, which touched something in my memory that satan was once a 'covering cherub' before he rebelled, hence I guess, why it is said that the devil has cloven hooves. The ring of flames the being stands upon is actually part of the being........I have not yet finished the painting because the wheel of fire is meant to be 'full of eyes' ! There are many more interesting details about the cherubim and if anyone is interested in reading up on it ,the bible reference is Ezekiel chapter 1 verse 4. The Rock was also a reference to Moses who struck the rock in the wilderness,to give sustanence of water to the people......it was a metaphor for God giving his spirit like water to an unspiritual world. The Rock of course is a symbol of God. Thanks again for your interest, I'm glad you liked the effects. I was hoping to achieve a vision for all to experience.

Wow! There's a lot of things I didn't know here about cherubins! Yes, since I've learned somehow that, uhm... let's say "real" cherubins don't really look like chubby babies, I began to like them more - I dont't know why, but I never really liked those chubby babies >.<
Interesting that you mentioned all this things about the Bible, I have been thinking about reading it. I mean, the whole Bible. And now you just made me feel more interested. I believe it is full of metaphors and messages that are often misunderstood by people.
There's one thing I'd like to ask, you mentioned that cherubins would have four heads or faces. On the painting, it shows only three (the other one would be hidden behind). There's one man's face, one lion and one bull. What would be the other one? A bird, if I'm not wrong?
Oh, and I didn't notice the cloven hooves! Amazing! For some reason I really like cloven hooves. And I love that you made them golden. They look beautiful.

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
